Dr. Weldon

Dr. Katie Weldon

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Katie Weldon, VMD has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 25 years in the Reno-Sparks area since receiving her degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 1995. Dr. Weldon has worked on many different animals both large and small, domestic and exotic. She has even performed dentistry on a tiger who had an appetite for car tires! 

Dr. Weldon enjoys general medicine and takes great pleasure in watching a young puppy or kitten grow up to be a healthy dog or cat.  Surgery remains one of her greatest interests.

Dr. Lori Burnham

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Lori Burnham graduated from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and went on to complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University. She has worked for many years in private practice in Torrance, California and San Jose, California.  During her time off, she enjoys reading, running, the beach (she grew up in Hawaii) and spending time with her family which include her dog, Benny, her cat, Chat, and a leopard gecko, Goldie. She hopes to run the Honolulu Marathon someday.


Dr. Carroll

Dr. Sandra L. Carroll

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Carroll relocated to Nevada from Wisconsin in the fall of 2017. She graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. She started her career in Hawaii at the Animal Quarantine Station. Since that time she has practiced small animal medicine and surgery. She became interested in complementary therapies and has attended the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society's course in basic acupuncture and Chi Institute's course in advanced acupuncture. Certification in veterinary acupuncture is pending. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and her two golden retrievers. She also likes gardening, sewing, and doing other crafty things.

Dr. Alex Veach

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Alex Veach is a 2015 graduate of Ross University, having completed her clinical year at the University of Illinois. She was born and raised in Reno, graduating from Wooster High School in 2006. She has been a small animal veterinarian in Northern Nevada for the last 4 years and has loved every minute of it. She lives in Washoe Valley with her boyfriend and their"kids": three goats, two dogs, and a Morgan horse. She loves hiking,kayaking, biking and horseback riding. Her German Shepherd, Major Moose Meat, keeps her on her toes with all his medical issues.









Dr. Laura Leautier

Dr. Laura Leautier 

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Laura Leautier has been a small animal veterinarian since 1991, with the past 26 years being in the Reno-Sparks area. She grew up in a small town in West Virginia, and completed her undergraduate and veterinary degrees at the Ohio State University. After a year and half practicing in Greensboro, North Carolina, she relocated to Reno to be with her now-husband of 25 years. They have two children and two labradoodles. Dr. Leautier enjoys building strong relationships with her clients and focusing on their pets’ wellness, dental, and surgical needs.



Dr. Kim

Dr. Kim Luikart

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Kim Luikart was born and raised in Reno.  She received her undergraduate degree in Biology at The University of Nevada, Reno.  She spent the next 5 years as an elephant trainer at Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo and at John Ascuaga's Nugget with Bertha and Angel.  She attended veterinary school at UC Davis.  During and for several years after obtaining her veterinary degree, she performed veterinary duties at Six Flags and volunteered with CA Fish and Game working with wildlife such as bighorn sheep, deer, and elk.  She practiced for 3 years in Sacramento at a small animal practice before returning home to Reno.  She has been practicing small animal medicine in the Reno/Sparks area now for over 13 years.  In 2014 she received her certification in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture from Colorado State University.  Dr. Luikart enjoys spending time with her Portuguese Water Dog, her husband, and her 10 year old twins.

Dr. Kimber Lopez

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Kimber Lopez was born and raised in Ragley, Louisiana. She knew from an early age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Kimber grew up on a small farm where she cultivated her love and passion for animal wellbeing and care. She started working for a local veterinarian at the age of 15. She graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University in 2011.Kimber began her veterinary career in Las Vegas, Nevada where she primarily worked with small animals. She also worked with several rescue organizations. She joined theMount Rose Animal Hospital team in 2020. Her interests include surgery, dentistry, ultrasound, and preventative medicine.When not at work, she spends most of her time with husband, Joe, and her dogs, Koopa and Kaylee. She enjoys painting, sculpting, and baking. Together with her husband, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and traveling
